Basil,
No, I don't know if Richard servived. I figured that I would look for him,
because the name would not have changed. No in anwer to looking for
Margaret, I haven't done any research, she and her sister Ellinor Jane were
going to be my next task.
My great Grandfather said that he wanted a better life for his children than
her had and was hoping to find it in the US. Johns oldest 2 sons. John and
Robert, cam to the US in 1905 Sarah arrived in the USA with her family on
May 5 1907 on the Baltic. They left from Liverpool and arrived at Ellis
Island. John arrived in the USA May 3, 1907. and came on the Ship "The
Caronia". He left from Queenstown. I don't know why the 2 different ships or
why my great granddad traveled alone or left from a different place for that
matter. Sarah died in 1916 and John in 1941, right about the time his first
grandson (my Dad) joined the Army Air corp.
Anyway, I have wanted to know as much as a can about these folk. My Great
grandfather was competely devoted to his family and lived with my
Grandfather until the day he died. My grandfather Llewelyn Pierce Phillips
was the only one to have children.
Anyway, enough of that, you gave me a piece of information I didn't have and
that is Margarets husband. Do you happen to have any more information on
him?
Thank you so much for all your help. Researching this part of may family has
given me so much joy.
Oh, and yes, I would love a key street numbers, that would be great!
Thanks again,
Barbara Phillips

Subject: Re: [MER] Richard PHILLIPS 1863 Bala
Do you know that Richard survived/remained in the UK? I can only
find
evidence of him in the 1881 Census and (possibly) the 1871 Census. I
can't find a record of him in the 1891 or 1901 Censuses.
John Humphreys would have been resident in no 26 High Street on the night
of the Census. Number 25 is across the road and has now been renumbered
15. I can send you a key to the street numbers if you so wish.
John and Sarah must have been a great couple to emigrate so late in life?
Have you thought of trying to trace John's sister Margaret who appears to
have married William T Ellis prior to 1891?
