No, this is one census record that I don't have.
I know much of the information from my father who knew John Phillips very
well. Great Grand dad John Phillips died in 1941 and my Dad was born in
1922. So my Dad grew up with a strong presence of his grandfather. It's nice
to have the correct address as well. I know it's only one number off, but
could make a big difference.
The reason that I am looking for Richard, John's brother, is that John and
Sarah came to the USA in 1907, and I understand the rest of the family
stayed in Bala. As a matter of fact, during WWII my father visited Bala and
met up with some cousins, but, contact wasn't kept up. I think if I can find
the folk from Richards line, I might be able to trace more of the family
ancestry. I find it interesting, that John Humphreys was listed as a servant
and lived in the next house over. Was this usually done? Do you know the
Bala area, are these homes attached somehow? I also have Margaret
Roberts-Phillips in an earlier census as a boarding house keeper. I believe
it is the 1880 census, but can't read it very well, my copy is a bad one.
Thanks so much for the information. I am grateful.

Do you have census returns for this family?
In the 1901 Census a John and Elizabeth Humphreys (plumber and dressmaker
resp.) lived at 25 High St
John Phillips (42) an inkeeper and his wife Sarah (40 from Denbigh,
llanfairtalhaiarn) lived at no 26. with their children Robert P Phillips
(15) an apprentice coach builder born in Liverpool, Roderick K (14), Annie
P (10), Llewelyn P (8) and Ernest P (6), all the later children born in
Bala. There were also 3 servants Jane Hughes (23) a house maid, Annie Ward
(16) a general servant and John Humphreys (19) a yardman. All were
bilingual.

I am looking for information on Richard PHILLIPS, he was born in 1863 in
Bala, Llanycil.
He is my great Grand Uncle, the younger brother of my Great Grandfather
who is John William Phillips born 1859 Bala.
Their parents are John Phillips (or John Pryce Phillips) born 30 Dec
1827/1828 in Tregeiriog and Margaret Roberts born 1827 Llanycil.
Richard has 2 other siblings as well Ellinor Jane born 1861 in Llanycil
and Margaret born 1867 in Bala.
I am trying to find out if Richard had a wife and children. My Great
Grandfather John William came to the USA in 1907 but so far as I know his
siblings stayed in Wales. I understand they lived at 25 High Street in
Bala in or around 1907, So that may have well been where Richard stayed.
If there is any information out there I would be most grateful.
Thank you,
Barbara Ann Phillips
