There is a memorial inscription in St Madryn churchyard Trawsfynydd in
memory of the children of Humphrey Morris Slater and Catherine his wife:
Anne a who died in 1824 aged 3 months; Morriswho died in 1849 aged 24 and
Owen who died in 1871 aged 33.
Humphrey Morris is part of my family.
At the bottom of the MI are the words:
Er cof am annwyl ferch Parch J. D. & L Evans Trawsfynydd Mehefin 14 1920.
(In loving memory of the daughter of Rev J D & L Evans Trawsfynydd June 14
1920)
There is nothing to suggest how (indeed if) Rev or Mrs Evans are related to
the family of Humphrey Morris, or why their child should share this grave
fifty years after the previous burial in it.
Does anybody have any further information about Rev J D Evans? For example a
record of him baptising a relation, so that I can find out which
denomination he was with and give me some idea of when he was working in
Trawsfynydd.
All the best
Alwyn
