There isn't a place called Llanduey in Merionethshire and it doesn't look
like a Welsh name. I was wondering if it was a Welsh name written down by
someone who didn't speak Welsh and wasn't familiar with the spelling? What
is your source and are you sure it's in this county?

Rhian-
I have no idea if there is any connection or not but when I saw Llanduey in
the original post I thought of the names of places (and ancestral estate)
where my Merionethshire ancestors were from:
Name: Owen HUMPHREY
Birth: 13 APR 1629 in Llangelynin, Merionethshire, Wales
Death: BEF. 1652 in Llangelynin, Merionethshire, Wales
Source: Merion In the Welsh Tract, page 249.
Father: Humphrey ap HUGH b: ABT. 1592 in Llwyn Du, Merionethshire, Wales
Mother: Elizabeth verch JOHN b: ABT. 1593 in Gadfa Rhiwargor, Wales
Marriage 1 Margaret VAUGHAN b: ABT. 1630 in Llangelynin, Merionethshire,
Wales
Could the reference be to the ancestral estate of Llwyn Du ?
Joan
