There isn't a place called Llanduey in Merionethshire and it doesn't look
like a Welsh name. I was wondering if it was a Welsh name written down by
someone who didn't speak Welsh and wasn't familiar with the spelling? What
is your source and are you sure it's in this county?
If written down by a non-Welsh speaker, I wonder if it might be Llandewi or
Llanddewi - I believe there are several places of that name in South Wales
eg Llanddewibrefi in Cardiganshire and, I think, a place in Pembrokeshire,
but not in Merionethshire. I can't think of anywhere here that could be
pronounced anything like that.
The other possibility is that someone has misread difficult handwriting eg
read y at the end of the word instead of g, but it doesn't seem to be a long
enough word to be Llandanwg, for instance, a parish in Merionethshire.
Intriguing!

Subject: [MER] Llanduey
I'm interested in Llanduey, the birthplace of Thomas GOODWIN
(1665-1739), but haven't been able to locate it. Does Llanduey
exist? Does it have another name?
Thanks for your help.
