Thanks so much David.
?I know a name like Jones.? But it was a miricle I even got back as far as I did.
I was hoping someone else would have a flash.? My David ran away from hme around the age
of 11.? Somehow joined up with family that was immig to US.? He sold himself into 7 year
servant to pay his way but was able or was paid out when he married in 1735 to a local
well to do.? They were also orig from Wales, Davies family.? Anyway David's father had
remarried to a woman David did not like and so he left.? It was reported his dad was a
minister.? But no name was ever given.? Thinking David had cut ties quite completely.?
Al I know it is near Bala, and means apple orchard or close to that.
thank you again
Dianne J

Going that far back, there are probably thousands of people related to
you in Wales!
It is not clear from your posting whether you know where the farm is,
exactly. There is a 'Maesafallen' about 6 kilometres south of Llanfor
(which, itself, is just north of Bala). You can find it in Cwm Hirnant
here:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=294500&y=331500&z=3&s...
I imagine the name is, in its complete form, something like 'Maes-yr-
afallen' which means 'Apple tree meadow'. (There will certainly be a
few places of similar names all over Wales!)
There has been some discussion of Maesafallen before (much of it
irrelevant banter, I'm afraid). See:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/CLWYD/2003-08/1060032811
There's a photo of it here:
http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/416273
Notice it appears as 'Maesafallen' in the 1871 census:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MER/Llanfawr/1871RhiwaedogUch.html
but as 'Maes Y Fallen' in 1851:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MER/Llanfawr/1851Rhiwaedog.html
There were still some Jones there then, but, given its frequency as a
surname in the area, I would not be too confident about the closeness
of any relationship!

Just putting some info out again.? Hope to find family in Wales.
My David Jones was born in 1709 near Bala on the farm called Maesy
Fallen (sp).
I am trying to find out his father and mothers name and if there
were siblings or even cousins from the area.
There seems to have been a migration of Jones'/? around 1731 from
Wales to the US.? Pennsylvania.? Quakers.?
Davids father was a minister but NOT in the Quaker church.? David
joined with the Quakers but in the US returned to episcapal.? He
helped build a church in
Churchtown in Chester Co, PA.
Is any of this striking any cord with any Jones/? families.
Thanks for reading
Thank you for all the hard work on these lists.
