Hello Edward,
Thank you -- we may be related!
When and where was your 4xgt.uncle John Robert born? Was he a Jones?
I've mixed some comments of my own below with those in Dianne's message.

Dianne,
The vicar of Llanfawr was Robert Jones from 1683 until his death in 1708. He
couldn't have been your David's father. Possibly grandfather?
My 4xgt.uncle John Robert was at Maesafallen in the mid 1700s, his mother
was Magdalen Jones (or Magdalen John) John Robert died in1748; his wife was
Gaynor Jones, I don't know her ancestry; one of their daughters married
William Morgan of Llangower in 1762 who was a keen Methodist but I don't
know how far back the Methodist connection goes, he died in 1807.
There was also a Quaker connection at Bryn Hynod in Llangower. It is only
about 2.5 miles from Maesafallen across the hills.
It is all very confusing; good records just don't go back far enough.
Edward.

from Anna Brown:
The family story is thus, with facts in brackets:
My David ran away from his Maesafallen home at 12 years of age in 1721 to a Samuels family
going to Pensylvania,
[whether they were friends or related is not known.]
[In Christ Church Philadelphia in 1735, he married Elizabeth, daughter of William Davies
and grandaughter of James Miles, both family originally from Wales]
The family story continues: David's father had remarried to a woman David did not
like.
It was reputed that his dad was a minister. However, no name was ever given for his
father.
[David and Elizabeth named their first son John]
[Maesafallen is near Bala, and approximately means apple orchard.]

Going that far back, there are probably thousands of
people related to you in Wales!
It is not clear from your posting whether you know where the farm is, exactly.
There is a 'Maesafallen' about 6 kilometres south of Llanfor (which, itself, is
just north of Bala).
You can find it in Cwm Hirnant here:

4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=293500&ay=336500>
I imagine the name is, in its complete form, something like 'Maes-yr-afallen'
which means 'Apple tree meadow'. (There will certainly be a few places of similar
names all over Wales!)
There has been some discussion of Maesafallen before (much of it irrelevant banter,
I'm afraid). See:

There's a photo of it here: <

Notice it appears as 'Maesafallen' in the 1871 census:
<

but as 'Maes Y Fallen' in 1851:

There were still some Jones there then, but, given its frequency as a surname in the
area, I would not be too confident about the closeness of any relationship!

Just putting some info out again hoping to find family in Wales.
My David Jones was born in 1709 near Bala on the farm called MaesyFallen (sp).
I am trying to find out his father and mothers name and if there were siblings or even
cousins from the area.
There seems to have been a migration of Jones(s) around 1731 from Wales to the US.
Pennsylvania. Quakers.
Anna Brown adds:
[Davids father is said to have been a minister of the established church of Wales.]
[that no records of David joining with the Quakers have been found].
[ David Jones helped build Bangor Episcopal Church in Churchtown in Lancaster Co, PA.]
