Anita,
What is your grandfather's name who was born in 1906?
I'm not sure how much information you have, but I found a John Griffith and
Elizabeth Evans marriage in 1894 (DOL/14/E142) which you would have to send
for. This should give the name of the father of each person. I found this on
North Wales BMD.
Also found a John Griffith (24) and Elizabeth (27) on the 1901 Wales census
living in Llanenddwyn with children Johnnie (6), Margaret (4), Jane Mary
(2), and William (3 weeks). This census says that John Griffith was born in
Dyffryn and Elizabeth was born in Llanbedr. Births registered in 1877 and
1874 should have a civil registration, which you would have to send for.
When I find ancestors who say they were born in Dyffryn, I look at
Llanddwywe and Llanenddwyn for sure. Someone on this list once told me that
you should look in the parishes of Llanaber, Llanbedr, Llanenddwyn,
Llanelltyd, Llanfachreth and Trawsfynydd for records. A person on this list
with more knowledge of the Dyffryn area should be able to tell you which
parishes to search in also.
My ancestors from this area were Calvinistic Methodists. There are
descriptions of these different parishes on GenUki.

Subject: [MER] Church of Wales vs. Methodist
Hi Everyone - my grandfather was born in Dyffryn Ardudwy in 1906. He
told
me
they went to the Methodist church. Is the Church of Wales the same as the
Methodist church? I'm looking for parish registers to try and find my
grandfather's parents births and they are not in the Church of Wales ones
available from the LDS. Any suggestions of where to look, besides the GRO
and registers office?
I'm looking for John Griffith born about 1877 and Elizabeth Evans born
about
1874.
Many thanks, Anita in Canada
