I have been following the posts about Llangelynnin Parish lookups because I
had ancestors in Celynnin, Llangelynnin Parish. And I see that the latest
post mentions THOMAS. My information below about Lewis R. Davis, age 9, in
1861 (he was my great grandfather), contains information that an Elizabeth
THOMAS was his aunt and John THOMAS his uncle. The relationship is through
Elizabeth, I believe. Do any of you posters have a John THOMAS and/or an
Elizabeth THOMAS among your THOMASes?
Thanks.

Re: Anne Clarke Morgan
Her father was Antony Morgan, bap. Llanaber 11 Nov 1772, son of Robert
Morgan, of Llanaber and Mary Thomas. He married Catherine Evans of
Tywyn on 5 Oct. 1804, and died in 1844. Probate of Antony Morgan,
Gent of Hendre, Llangelynin, done in 1845.
According to Lewis Lloyd, in his book on the history of Barmouth,
Anthony Morgan was a Quaker. The non-parochial registers at TNA
include the Quaker births/baptisms in series RG6, and are maybe
worth studying.

A Quaker baptism would presumably not be accepted by the Church of
England and she would have to be baptised again in preparation for
a CoE wedding.
Robert Morgan, Plas canol, Llanaber belonged to a minor gentry family
with an exceedingly long pedigree. One 16th century genealogist,
probably teasing, described the family as the `Morgans of the line of
Iestyn ab Gwrgan', referring to the 12th century prince of Glamorgan.
Mary, his wife, was the daughter of Hugh Thomas of Hendre, Llangelynin
who was a descendant of Anthony Thomas, Sheriff of Merionethshire in 1683.
They married 2 July 1755 at Llangelynin.
