Although this isn't the right period of time to look for his death, these
are the schools listed in the Pigot & Co North Wales Directory 1844,
although Robert Roberts isn't listed. The directory is, or at least was,
available on CD. I'd forgotten I had it! I have no other until 1895.

Subject: [MER] headmasters/school teachers
having at last traced a robert roberts head master in the 1841/1851
census
I thought I had at last made the vital
breakthrough I had been seeking but alas to no avail? the blue books I
found to be very informative of the state
of education available and the condition of schooling in general for the
era that I was searching and though the
inspectors painted a very vivid picture of the times, were sadly lacking
in the details about the teachers .
Also Dolgelley county records office was of no help whatsoever, their
records for schools did not start until 1863.
By then robert roberts would be unable to teach anybody. due to his age
etc and that he now did not appear in the 1861 census.
If he is dead there are too many robert roberts to look for in Dolgelley
over a ten year period.
Can any body tell me if there are trade and street diectories for
Dolgelley in that period of time?
Forever hopeful,
Derek Roberts
