Hi Ken
Just seen your message. I come from Cwmtirmynach near Fron-goch and attended the primary
school (Ysgol Bro Tryweryn) there. Fron-goch is a very small village with a primary
school and shop. There was a Church of Wales Church there until the 1970's but was
demolished however there is still a cemetery there. The school site was once a military
camp and German prisoners were held here as were Irish freedom fighters (the most famous
being Michael Collins)- this camp was on two sites in Frongoch. Previously the school
site was a whiskey distillery and the landowner RJ Price of Rhiwlas, near Bala
manufactured Welsh Whiskey here for a few years. There were many prominent Quakers in the
area - Llwynbrain, Llaithgwm, Coed y foel. The record office run by Gwynedd Council in
Dolgellau would be a good place to contact to learn more about the Quakers in
Meirionnydd.
Please let me know if I can help you further.
