Hi Charles
I have a full size copy but I'm afraid I can't see a face in the window

Hi Reimi,
Thanks for your interesting input. I know there is a smaller version of
“Salem” and also another painting with Sian Owen in it, but I’m not sure
what the alternate/earlier version is. I too had to have the “devil”
pointed out. I want to see the original again because there looks like
there is a face in the window but all my copies are too small to check it
out I also found some mistakes in the Tal Williams book but they are not
big ones.
Any data would be welcomed and I’ll let you know what I find.
Best wishes,
Charles

My great uncle (first cousin to Evan LLOYD in the painting and Evan
ROWLANDS
who couldn't sit still) told me he once saw a museum exhibit that included
a
Vosper picture of his grandmother Elin EDWARDS carrying water. I'd love
any
information about that picture if you should happen to stumble upon it. I
think Vosper spent a lot of time at Salem, got to know the people, and
made
several sketches and studies. I have cousin in Wales who has an
alternate/earlier version of the Salem painting. The planning and
deliberate
composition of the painting make it seem unlikely that he painted the
devil
by accident but I must admit that I can't see the devil at all on that
shawl.
