By the way, I had a look at some of those places on
maps.google.com and saw that most were
neighbours.

Thank you for explaining this. The original photo that I mentioned is
now in The Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagan's, Cardiff. Each person is
named on the border of the photo.
Owen Ellis is called the father of Mr William Ellis, Llety Maescaled,
(means a lodging or Inn in a rough or hard field) Banc Dolgellau.
I have been to Tanygader farm twice, once with my parents when May
(the baby in the photo) and her brother were farming there.
This has been a lovely route to follow.
