In case this is of interest to those who do not understand Welsh. Dear Jean,
Its worth you going to the following Cemetries:-
Start at Y Mynwent Newydd, Llangadfan and Garthbeibio Churchyard for the graves of Edward
Jones, Gwastadgoed's parents. His father, Evan Jones is buried at Garthbeibio while
his mother, Jane Jones, is buried at Mynwent Newydd, Llangadfan (in 1906). Evan Jones died
in the 1850's and the Mynwent Newydd dates from 1886. In Garthbeibio you will also see
the graves of Janes Jones' parents, Richard and Mary Jones. They were buried from
Maesgarthbeibio Farm.
Your next stop would be the parish of Cemmaes (Montgomeryshire). Jane Jones' grand
parents are buried in Cemmaes Churchyard, the REv William and Susannah Jones, Dolyfonddu,
Llanwrin Parish. Dolyfonddu is just across the river Dyfi - or some of them - of Mary
Jones are buried in Cemmaes Churchyard while, her brother, David Jones is buried in the
Methodist Chapel Cemetery. You can see Dolyfonddu from near the grave.
Then, on you go to Llanwrin Churchyard. Start near the Church door, 2nd row and look for
Evan Watkin, Mathrafan Farm/Mansion and you are on your way. Look out for the Anwyl, Jones
(the family of Richard Jones mentioned above), Pughs and Vaughans.
Oh! of interest there is one branch that settled in Racine Coiunty Winsconsin. Jane Jones,
Maesgarthbeibio's first cousin was a Vet of the American Civil War. His name, John R
Jones. He was elected Borough Tresurer of Racine County in 1876 and 1878. His descendants
were still in Racine in the US 1930 Census.
Hope this helps you on your way. Regards, Dafydd
