I am sure that you have a reference to John Angel Evan, gent, will 1804? The National
Library website and access to archives are useful (
www.llgc.org.uk;
www.a2a.org.uk).The
later (1774) will of Evan Angel Dyffrynglingin looks interesting and I am sure you know
about it. There is a 1729 bond for an Algernon Jones, Dyffryn Glyngin, and a John Angel
(bond) (1766). Algernon... Angel? I don't know! You could do worse than look through
all the Tywyn wills 1700-1750 (or even 1770) for mentions of the names and places. The
handwriting gets some getting used to but you readily get to know how a certain name or
phrase looks! The bonds are for people who died without making a will and are letters of
administration (admons) for estates, usually given to a family member - the widow in the
case of John Angel, above. The witnesses (of the wills, bonds and inventories) may be
neighbours or, sometimes, family members, so the names, and places, if given, are worth
noting. Yours,Ian
