Dear Jaq & Les,
Thanks for your reply.
1) Search for childhood death of James MORGAN, born c1879 Ruthin, in
Llandrillo 1881 census. If James did indeed die in childhood then his death
will be in the quarterly indexes of deaths in the period 1881-1900 latest :
the index gives age on death, so hopefully there it should be possible to
locate him. The NBI is simply irrelevant in this case : the burial would
have been recorded locally, but even if local records have been transcribed
by county family history society (a big IF), the FHS would have had to send
their county burial records to the Federation of FHSs to have been included
in this first edition NBI.
2) Marriage certificate James MORGAN to Ann HANMER, 4th quarter 1878,
Corwen registration district. I was fascinated to hear that "the chapel
registers for Corwen are in Bala or they should be, there is also a
possibility they are in Wrexham". If you find any details from either Bala
or Wrexham I would be most interested - as would Dolgellau & Ruthin records
offices I'm sure. Church records are generally available at county records
offices, but chapel records are often regarded as having been lost,
certainly post-1837. I always get any certificates I need by ordering
personally at the Family Records Centre in London : I shall be up there
next Tuesday 19th June. Certificates ordered in this way generally arrive
in the post within a week.
3) The Roberts family that you met at Llandrillo are presumably Mr Idris
Roberts & his wife Evelyn of Porthpennant, near the Stores : a very kind &
helpful couple. I was most interested to hear of their connection with
Morgan family - I thought that there hadn't been any Morgans in Llandrillo
for many years.
4) You refer to Llanfairfechan : what is the connection?
Best wishes,
Jeff Delves
