I have confined my search to London because of the family data, but
through
help from some London barristers, I need to find a link to a William
WILLIAMS family who lived at Peniarthuchaf, Merioneth, Wales. That William
had a son John who was registered to practice law in London at Lincoln's
Inn in February 1779. The property is a beautiful Inn at
www.birdrock.co.uk that was owned by a Williams family, but I need to find
out if this John, son of William, is MY John.
If your ancestors are of the Peniarth line, they will not be the same family
as those registered in Llanfrothen. Peniarth Uchaf is in south Merioneth
whereas Llanfrothen is in the north.
If you think that there is a link to Peniarth, your first step should be to
contact the National Library of Wales e-mail holi(a)llgc.org.uk. The National
Library has a huge collection of Manuscripts from Peniarth, and will probably
have a pedigree of the family.
If you can get to an LDS library, order a copy of The History of Powys Fadog,
this book will contain a copy of the Peniarth Pedigree and a number of other
Merionethshire pedigrees, which may help if the Peniarth lead proves false.
Hope this helps
