Dear Sue in Chester
If by 'Llanbadarn Fawr' you mean Llanbadarn Fawr near Aberystwyth (in
Cardiganshire rather than Cardigan town) then the following records may be of
relevance. They are from the following website:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ceredigwynd/walters-memorial.html
'Llanbadarn Fawr Church Memorial Inscriptions
Walters
Grave No Name Date of Death Age Home Occuppation Spouse Children Parents
Misc
D34 John Walters 26/10/1881 73yrs Dyffrynpaith . . . . .
D35 Richard Walters 22/7/184 22m Shop Llanbadarn Parish . . . John &
Elizabeth Walters b. 20/9/1842'
There is a note on another page:
'D35 John Walters was a mason and came from Llangwyryfon, his wife Elizabeth was
from Llangurig, Montgomeryshire they had five children.'
Looks like he could NOT have had more children after 1881 as the poor chap was
Llanbadarn graveyard.
Sounds like your man! (Note the place-name spellings, however.)

Subject: WALTERS -new member
Hello List members
I am new to this list and wishes to submit my interests.
My areas of interest are LLANIDLOES , KERRY and
ABERYSTWYTH district
From 1881 census at Penarth Glamorgan
John WALTERS 37 Shoemaker b. KERRY
wife Sarah(37) b.Llanidloes
Children Alfred(5) John(3), Frank(1) (my great grandfather)
all born LLANIDLOES
George WALTERS 40 Shoemaker b. KERRY
Wife Jane 37) b. Llangerrig
children Thomas (10) Adelaide(6) Richard(2) Ellen(9m)
I suspect they are brothers and that their father is
John WALTERS 73 Stonemason b Llangwiryfon Cardigan
living at Llanbadarn Fawr, Cardigan in 1881.
My grandmother (Frank's daughter ) is still living aged 94 and says
that she had two Aunts called Ada and Sally and two uncles called
Richard and Jack.
Now did John and Sarah have more children after 1881 or is she
getting mixed up with Adelaide (Ada) Richard and Ellen (Sally) who
are George's children.
She told me that the family were "in shoes" and that one of her
Aunts was a district Nurse not necessarily in Llanidloes...maybe
Norwich. Also that one of her sisters Jean was "adopted" by the
Aunts and taken away when young possibly around 1930.
Could I ask a big favour of anyone who has access to 1891 census
for Llanidloes area to look if the name Walters crops up.
Could I also ask that if anyone is checking the parish registers for
around that time if there are further children born to John and Sarah
and another child to George called Jack or John.
I am happy to do similar research in Chester or Hawarden
I don't travel any great distance at the moment due to health
problems and so would be very grateful for assistance.
Any information on the name Walters would be gratefully received
and exchanged.
Good luck to all
Sue
