Can I put my two pennyworth in? I am researching Jane Roberts who married
William Thomas some time before 1864 when their son William was born in
Aberdovey, Wales. Does this ring a bell with any Roberts' clan? Any and all
information welcome.

Hello David,
Yes, this is the right list, but it isn't very active here!
I have been meaning to mention to you (following your email to the Clwyd
list about the birth certificate of an Ann Roberts in 1843) that I am
also researching Roberts and some of them are in the Bala area. My
g-g-grandmother was Ann Roberts born in Llangar around 1811, which is
about all I know definitely of her early life before her marriage in
Bryneglwys in 1841. However I have a possible baptism for her in 1812 in
Llangar, where she was the daughter of John Roberts and Jane. Looking
into this further I believe it is possible that this John Roberts was
also known as John Ellis (one name was a patronymic) and came from
Llandrillo.
However what I am working on now is to try to find other relatives on
the Roberts side and trace their ancestry back to find a common link. I
have some family information about people with Roberts connections who
are supposed to be related to me, and if this is true, I think they may
lead me to Ann Roberts' parents.
Firstly I have one David Roberts from Gwyddelwern, Merioneth, who served
for many years with the LMS Railway. He had a son, ??? Roberts, who was
a conductor on the buses from Corwen to Bala around the 1920s, but died
fairly young. David Roberts also had a daughter ??? Roberts, who was a
musician, and married the headteacher, ??? Griffiths, at Llawrybetws
School, between Llanfor and Llangar, who was subsequently headteacher at
Bryncrug, near Towyn, Merioneth. They had a son who died young, and
another, called Llyr, who may be a lecturer at Bangor.
Secondly, there was a Robert Roberts who was stationmaster
in Corwen. He had two daughters who were at school in Bala with two
cousins of my mother's, one of whom would now be about 90 and the other
84 or 85. The younger one married a policeman and lives or lived at
Llandudoch, near Cardigan. One son ??? Roberts, worked in Dolgellau
Station, but moved from that area when he retired. The other son, ???
Roberts, became a Presbyterian minister, and had a daughter who is also
a Presbyterian minister at Parc near Bala.
Does any of this ring any bells?
Best wishes,
Ann
