The sources (British Newpapers etc) are great, but your insight and interpretation
regarding the estate/Bala relationship will be very interesting. I sense a similar kind of
relationship between the Rug estate and the social development of Corwen in the 19th
century, but am in the early stages of my research in the same general field. One example
of this period that remains in my mind is the influence of the estate on the castellated
design of the railway depot at Bala, so that the structure would not offend the aesthetic
sensibilities of the owners of the estate!

Re: Books on the history of Bala and surroundings
Just to alert people that I am researching with the intention of publishing
a book next summer 2013 about the last Lloyds of Rhiwaedog, and their
relationship with people in Bala in the second half of the 18th century having
found a fascinating and detailed series of Chancery cases.
Details will appear on our website: _http://www.mcfadden-buttrey.com_

Another source of information about Bala is in the British Library's 19th
century newspapers online and in the London Gazette online.
