How interesting!
Does any of them remember a part of the family going to Australia, I wonder?
I am afraid my elderly friend is long gone. She was an old lady when I was
living in Sydney in the early 1970s. I think she and her daughter and the
latter's husband came to Oz in the mid 1950s (I remember them speaking of
coming through Suez escorted by a Royal Navy warship). The daughter, who was
a friend of my mother (same generation) and whose married name was 'Roberts'
had lost her husband when I knew them. The old girl liked us to call her
'Nain', rather than 'Mrs Ephraim'. Her granddaughter married a mate of
mine
and they now live in Perth, but I have not seen or heard from them in years.
But when you mentioned that surname my ears pricked up as it were.

Hello David,
The surname Ephraim is very rare and I think most of those from North
Wales are related to a family that seems to have originated in Maentwrog
and spread to Trawsfynydd and Ffestiniog. There are no more than a dozen
listed in the various telephone directories covering North Wales.
I have been in contact with two separate branches of the family (in
Ffestiniog and Mold) who are both distantly related to the branch who
are related to me, and equally distantly related to one another, and it
was one of these people who told me about my relatives going to Utica.
The other one has done a bit of research into the family history which
he is happy to share with anyone who is interested. So if your elderly
friend or any of their relations are interested in family history,
please do put them in touch.
Best wishes,
Ann
