This message is off topic for a genealogy list, but as those who have been
researching in the Dolgellau area may have come across the Rev Carl Cooper
the Rector of St Mary's Parish Church I thought that this news story might
be of interest to list members who have associations with the Parish Church
in Dolgellau.

'Privilege and responsibility'
for new bishop
THE new Bishop of St David's is the Rt Rev Carl Cooper. He was elected by the
Church in Wales electoral college on Wednesday.
The college had been meeting at St David's Cathedral since Tuesday to elect
the 127th bishop.
It was convened following the retirement of Rt Rev Huw Jones at the end of
2001 after six years in office.
Bishop Cooper, 41 - who, despite being raised in Wigan, is Welsh-speaking -
has been Rector of Dolgellau since 1993.
He also became Archdeacon of Meirionnydd in the diocese of Bangor in 2000.
He said, "Being elected to this important position within the Church in Wales
has been a humbling experience, and I see it both as a privilege and a huge
responsibility."
