Annwyl Tom
You are quite right regarding my maternal grandfather. He was Hugh Pugh
1853-1919, the son of David Pugh Tyddyn Bach1815-1863.This is quite
confusing since my maternal grandmother's family moved from Erwddwfr (Y
wyddor ) to Hendre Fawr when my ggGrandfather Hugh Pugh died. Subsequently
the Rev Edward Davies (Mary Davies's father) moved to Erwddwfr
and it was occupied and farmed with Tyddyn Bach by Mary Pugh /nee Davies
(David Pugh 's widow) when Edward Davies died in 1872. I have now traced
Edward Davies's roots in the parish records of Llanrhaedr-y-mochnant.
It is my intention to send you details of my mother's ancestry in due
course hopefully when I have sorted it out a little bit
clearer.I have still to find the roots of Evan Williams Y Wyddor and
Morgan
Lloyd 1740-1815 Cefngellcwm. Also I have yet to confirm some of the
links
of
the Roberts of Rhiwgoch and Gwynfynydd with the Pugh's of
Argoed.Dr Lewis
Lloyd showed that William Pugh descended from Richard William Pugh
????-1743 Llwyn-y-Ffynnon, Brithdir Dolgellau and in the Pugh family
documents (donated by Mrs Anne Pugh Bont-ddu) in the National Library of
Wales there is a reference to an interesting deed dated 1698 Aug.
1regarding
the "FEOFFMENT of Llwyne y Fynon and Bryn Mawr otherwise Ffrith
y
Bryn Mawr, t. BRITHDIR UCHA, (p. DOLGELLAU), co. Mer. Consideration: £100
"
I have enjoyed exploring your excellent database. Not only it is
excellent
to trace our relatives but I have found a wealth of relevant data which
has
been valuable to me in my searches in Merioneth.I am amazed that you
are
adding more data. continuously.
We have been up to Bangor recently and went by train via Crewe. It was very
nice to see the North Wales coast Hugh is now in Ysbyty Gwynedd and could
be
there for some time.
