1. Margaret DAVIES, Died 15 Sep 1901, Pittston, PA, USA: Age 71 years; widow of Isaac
Davies; native of Monmouthshire, South Wales; survived by: Mrs. Mary Edwards, widow of
Matthew Edwards; David D. Davies; Mrs. Sarah A. Kemp of Williamstown, PA; Isaac C. Davies
of Syracuse, NY; John A. Davies of Butte, Montana; Thomas, Alexander, Arthur and Edith
Davies; also survived by one sister, who resides in Minersville, Pa., and by one brother,
who lives in the old country.
2. John EMANUEL, Died 17 Sep 1901, Pittston, PA, USA: Age 74 years; born in
Carmarthenshire, Wales; survived by an adult family of four children (not named).
3. Harry J. REES, Date of Death Not Given, Bluefield, WV, USA: Youngest son of the late
John Rees, a well known merchant in Merthyr Tydvil, Wales; born at Llangedock,
Carmarthenshire, Wales, June 17, 1845, at the residence of his maternal grandfather, the
late Henry Evans, manufacturer; took a position in the machine shops of White & Co.
in Seville, Spain, in which his uncle, Thomas P. White, was a partner; emigrated to the
U.S. in 1868 and spent several years with his brother Herbert, who was clerk for Wood,
Morrell & Co. of Johnstown, PA; went to Scranton; returned to Wales; came back to
Luzerne County, PA; was the second mayor of Pocahontas (WV), "a position he held with
honor during the time that the town was filled with desperadoes"; married in 1887 to
Mrs. Adelia Mulligan at Merthyr, Wales; she died a year ago; survived by five children -
Mrs. Maud Carper, Roanoke, Va.; Robert Rees, Bluefields; Mabel, Herbert and John.
