1. David D. HUGHES, Died 6 Feb 1900, Wilkes-Barre, PA, USA: born in Dolwyddelen, North
Wales, on December 11, 1828; foreman of many slate quarries in North Wales; then held a
position as foreman under a Mr. Davis, railroad contractor, of Llandinam, Wales, for nine
years; accepted a foremanship under the London & Northwestern Railroad company to
drive the railroad tunnel at Festinog, North Wales; emigrated to U.S. in 1885; survived by
a son, Robert Hughes, Pen y Cafnau, Dolwyddelen, North Wales; daughter, Mrs. Jeanette
Roberts, Pentre'I Bont, Dolwyddelen, North Wales; daughter, Mrs. David Edwards, and
three [grand]children, Maggie, Catherine and David Edwards.
2. Enoch PUGH, Died 9 Feb 1900, Plains, PA, USA: Age 31 years; born in Treharbert, South
Wales; emigrated to U.S. 18 years before; married five years ago to Miss Maggie Morgans,
daughter of John L. Morgans of Plains; leaves two children - John, aged 4 years, and
Thomas, aged 2 years; also his mother and three sisters and two brothers in South Wales;
nephew of Mrs. Thomas E. Lewis of Plains.
3. Sarah B. RICHARDS, Date of Death Not Shown, Plymouth, PA, USA: born in August 1833,
in Llangyderine, Carmanthenshire, South Wales, of the Treliarne family; moved to
Glamorganshire as an infant; married in 1861; emigrated to the U.S. in 1869; survived by
her children: Mrs. Edward Jenkins, Mrs. John L. Phillips, David B. Richards, Mrs. Arthur
Caswell and John E. Richards.
