G'day all.
I am not sure if this query is relevant to this list so have also sent this info to the
Merionethshire list just in case.
According to the 1842 marriage certificate James Hobbs-Jane Jones, Jane was a spinster and
resided at Dolygun. Father was Rowland Jones Mason. The marriage certificate was solemnized
at the Parish Church in the Parish of Dolgelly in the county of Merioneth.
James and Jane Hobbs had 3 children, 2 being born Dolgelly, the 3rd in London. The first
born was Catherine Mary b 1842 Dolygun, Dolgelly sub district of Barmouth, the second was
Richard Lewis b 1844 again of Dolygun, Dolgelly etc and the 3rd was James b 1846 of
Finsbury London.
According to the 1881 census Jane Hobbs nee Jones was born 1809 Towyn.
I believe that there are 2 Towyn townships and wonder if someone who has access to the
Dolgelly Parish Register could check to see if Jane jones was christened in Dolgelly and
provide relevant details.
Could someone also advise if Dolygun was a village or residence and if it still exists.
