1. Evan J. Reese, Died 11 Dec 1895, Plymouth, PA, USA: (Not much
information.) Age 59; native of Wales; shoemaker by trade; survived by
a wife and four children - James, a student at Marietta College, Ohio;
John, clerk at the Dodson colliery of the Plymouth Coal Co.; Sarah and
Hannah.
2. Mrs. Sarah Evans, Died 2 Jan 1896, Wilkes-Barre, PA, USA: age 76
year, 6 months; emigrated in 1842 from Beaufort, Breconshire, South
Wales, and settled at Pottsville, Pa.; husband, Daniel Evans, was killed
by an accident 43 years ago; survived by the following children:
William Evans, proprietor of the North Branch Hotel; Contractor Daniel
H. Evans of Ashley; Mrs. Margaret Morgan, Division street; Williams
Evans and Alfred Evans; 11 grand-children and several great
grand-children.
3. Mrs. Catherine Griffith, Died 2 Jan 1896, Wilkes-Barre, PA, USA:
aged 77 years; widow of the late Nathaniel Griffith, who was killed by
accident in March 1877; sister-in-law of the late ex-county treasurer,
John T. Griffith; came from Cwmglo, Merthyr Tydvil, Wales, with her
father, Benjamin Evans, and family 70 years ago, and settled in Cumbola,
Schuylkill County; was married July, 1840; survived by the following
children: The late Mrs. Henry H. Jones of the Heights, Mrs. Daniel W.
Evans, wife of superintendent Daniel W. Evans of Williamstown, Pa.; Mrs.
Thomas Kerr of Plymouth; undertaker Benjamin F. Griffith of Nanticoke;
Mrs. Daniel D. Roderick of Pottsville; and Miss Kate S. Griffith, who
resided with her mother; leaves also 28 grand-children and 7
great-grandchildren.
