Nancy Cook
Pasadena, MD, USA
Dear Folks,
Reading the list of deaths that have been listed by Nancy in the
Wilkes-Barre reminded me of a puzzle I have.
I have a copy of a newspaper cutting that is in Welsh as follows-
"Marwolacthau Swyddogion Eglwysig"
and underneath is written-
John J Jones, Sandusky, Cattaraugus Co., N.Y.
The body of the text is in Welsh and I am told refers to John Jones and what
'a splendid fellow he was'. John had lived at Gwernyrewig Farm, Llanfawr. He
had a disagreement with his landlord and moved to USA in the mid eighteen
hundreds.
My question is, is this a Welsh newspaper recording the death, or a
newspaper story from New York. I have not done any research on John though I
do have details of his parents, who are brother and sister to my ancestors.
Regards
Jane McIntosh
