To clarify things. Is it Jane Ellen Griffiths or Jane Ellen Griffith?
I checked Free BMD for the former without success in Caernarfon, but found
the following under Griffith:
December 1877
Jane Ellen Griffith Carnarvon 11b 479
The difference between a Griffith with an 's' at the end and without
resulted in different results when i searched for Jane Ellen Griffith in the
1881 census (Ancestry version). Following your thought, the closest result
to Maentwrog that I found was a household in Penmorfa, Caernarvonshire, but
the Jane Ellen there was aged 6, unfortunately.
Penmorfa is a short distance north west of Porthmadog.
The difference in the ages between Jane Ellen and that of her siblings
(William and Sarah) is also an interesting line of inquiry.
There's quite a gap between 1877 and 1891/1894. You might consider searches
for William and Sarah in the census for 1901 under Griffith and Griffiths.
The results differ under the two search parameters, so its worth a try.
Having said that, the birth registration for Jane Ellen is the best course
at this point, as advised already.

I would start with the marriage as that gives the father's name and then you can cross-check with the census on Ancestry for a place of birth. There was one intersting couple in Glamorgan in 1891 with children born in Llanddeniolen (mistranscribed as Llandeniden on one occasion) but that was only one of about 6 potential matches! Ddeiniolen fits with a miner son as it contains quarries, as Angharad said.Yours,Ian

We will order the certificates as soon as we can. We needed to be sure we
were headed in the right direction before we ordered them. We know that
there was a John Lewis b.1893 to Lewis William Lewis and the first wife near
Llandeiniolen. I can find him living with his grandmother Elizabeth Lewis b.
1844, in the 1901 census (32, New Street, Llandeiniolen, Ebenezer. This
step-son came to Canada in 1908. There is a Miss Margaret Hughes, Preswylfa,
Ebenezer, Caernarvonshire, mentioned in John's Canadian Service Records.
Thank you for your assistance.

in 1881 and 1891 but you really do need all that information before
starting, unless you have a name like Ezekiel amongst them!Tan-y-Ffordd is a
very common placename but there is a Clwt Y Bont in Llandeiniolen, 5 miles
East of Caernarfon. There is a Tan y Ffordd there (like so many other
places!).Yours,Ian

I am trying to trace some of my ancestors. my great great grandmother was mary Apjohn (abjohn)born in Limerick Ireland 1766 her great grandfather was a Thomas Apjohn born in Abergynularyn around 1630.He was part of the Jury of Enquiry Re: survey of Land for confiscation in Ireland 1654-1656. he had a claim on 185 acres in carteenaline (ancient name of Linfield, Pallasgreen) this was around the time of the Cromwellian settlement, Thomas was an officer in the Army and a tax commissioner for County Limerick. he came over to Ireland with a Thomas Lloyd who was also a land commissioner and officer in the Army he also farmed an adjoining estate in Towerhill Cappamore and in 1652 he married Eleanor, daughter of Rev. Richard Burgh, Dromkeen, an old norman family well established in the area.Thomas Apjohn's Son Michael born around 1690 married margaret Widenham (1694-1792) any information on this Apjohn family would be greatly received. Hi All
I have found that many of my relatives are missing from these
transcriptions.
As well as parishes missing of which Findmypast acknowledge and list,
there are many people missing from the parishes that have been
transcribed and that fall within the date range shown for a given parish.
I hope this is still a work in progress and there are still records to
add. There is a particular parish, Bodfuan, in CAE, where I transcribed
my relatives from original church records and most of them are missing
from Findmypast.

I also am slightly disappointed. I have been fortunate in that I live only 90 minutes drive from Dolgellau where the archives for Merioneth are kept. Findmypast have only provided the easily readable records so far from around 1813, too late really for me.
