Hello,
Please would you ask your aunt about my grandfather David Jones Williams. He died early 1950's. His family lived in Cwm Penmachno or Penmachno for many generations and the men all worked at the slate quarry. He was married 3 times I am descended from his first wife Katherine who I think is buried in the Methodist church yard. I think he is buried with his second wife in that large grave yard in Penmachno. His last wife I think was Maria who died at the end of the 1990's in a nursing home. I think his father was Owen.My mother (his only daughter - a twin with Gurney) was Kate Violet Williams. I would be very grateful if you could help.Thank you.My email address is:robertbills2001@yahoo.co.uk.
Thank you,
Robert Bills

Thank you all for your assistance.
It looks as though "Noni" was actually Nora as I have found a birth
reference on FreeBMD for Nora WILLIAMS in Chorlton, Lancs (which was where
her parents appear to have married in haste). So I shall be sending off for
a birth certificate with fingers crossed :-))

Help please! I am trying to trace the birth of a daughter born to Hugh
Evans WILLIAMS (b 1873 Bont Ddu, Llanaber) and Louisa Mary (nee NICHOLLS, b
1869 Twyning, Glos) around 1900-1907. Their daughter was known as "Noni".
Hugh and Louisa married some time between July and September of
1900 in Chorlton, Lancashire. However, there is a bit of a mystery about
this marriage in that the 1901 census shows Hugh living as a SINGLE man
(aged 28 and a draper) with his parents in Marine House, Barmouth. Louisa
is also shown as single (aged 32) staying in Barmouth with her sister,
Elizabeth Ann LOXTON. Perhaps Hugh's parents didn't approve of this
marriage??? Their daughter, whom I only know as Noni, was probably born
around 1900-1907 as she appears as a bridesmaid in a photo of my
grandfather's wedding in 1914, aged about 10 (?).
If anyone knows whether Noni is a nickname or can help me trace her birth
(whether in Wales or England), I would be extremely grateful.

Noni is often used as a shortened version of Rhiannon - could this be the
case here?

My wife's older sister, Norah, from Trefriw in North Wales was always known
in the family as Noni.
