I have his death certificate but haven't found out where he was buried. Also I'm not sure how to find an obituary. Where to go for local newspaper records etc.

It looks like he died the June Q 1882. If you got the death certificate you might be able to find an obituary.

I am trying to locate the grave of Robert Lloyd. He was living in Keepers House,in what looks like Brithdir Uchaf in 1881 (Census). He was working on the Hengwrt Uchaf estate when he fell from a ladder and died. Family stories have it that his emplkoyer paid for the funeral and headstone and that he was buried in a private cemetery. Whether this is true I don't know. Can anyone throw any light on our quest?
Robert was born in Dolgellau in 1851, married Ann Humphreys from Dinas Mawddwy in 1870.

I am trying to determine when the patronymic versus a surname seems to apply in this family. The baptisms take place in the mid 1700s. I've listed the parent's names as shown in the baptism records. My questions are:
Do these shift back and forth between the patronymic and surname?
If so, how do I record these in a genealogy program?
Would the father be considered John ap Robert?
first two are daughters, 1741, 1742, parents are recorded: John Robert and wife Margaret.
Then two sons, 1744 and 1746: parents are John ROBERTS and wife, Marg't
Next two dau. and a son, (1748, '50, '52) - back to John Rob't and Marg't
1755: a dau: Jno ROBERTS and wife Marg't
The last three, 1 dau., 2 sons (1757, '59, '62) have Jno Robert and wife Marg't
Will appreciate any ideas --
Jane
Hello Patricia,
We have not met but you did give me some useful information about Llandudno
Archives a while ago. Perhaps you can help me once more? My grandfather's
brother moved to live in Llanrwst and according to the 1901 census there is
a person called Evan Roberts age 34 and born in Pwllheli - I can tick these
boxes as being correct with one of my g.uncles but his occupation then was
'fur skinner' and he lived in Victoria Terrace with wife and 3 daughters.
My understanding was that he became a haulier and I have no other
information about him. To save a lot of time going around cemetries looking
for the family tombstone is there somewhere in the Council Offices where
there might be a record of the burial places in Llanrwst - Dolgellau have a
fishe where one can do this and it does save a lot of time.
Thanks. Would be grateful for any tips.
Gwenda

Hi Lindsay,
Never be afraid to ask where the info came from! We are all here to help
each other. As another who is working through Roberts' and Jones' I do
sympathise with you.
If you think I can hep further just ask.
