Some more Merioneth entries have been put on to North Wales BMD here are the
details from Vic and Dafydd the co-ordinators.
==================================
We've just uploaded two more sets of indexes to the North Wales BMD website
- both are for Corwen sub-district:
Births indexes 1880 - 1939 (8,908 births)
Deaths indexes 1880 - 1939 (6,830 deaths)
The registers are now in Denbighshire South register office, Ruthin.
Corwen sub-district was in Corwen registration district from 1 October 1880
until 30 September 1935, and it was in Merioneth East registration district
from 1 October 1935.
We've reason to believe that this sub-district was abolished on 30 September
1939 - but we haven't been able to find conclusive evidence as yet.
It covered (approximately) the following parishes:
Corwen, Betws Gwerfyl Goch, Cerrigydrudion, Gwyddelwern, Llandrillo yn
Edeirnion, Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Llangar, Llangwm and Llansanffraid Glyn
Dyfrdwy.
As always, our thanks to everyone who is working on this project!

For a long time I have been looking for the baptism of William Jones around
1810-12, Father John Williams (Blacksmith) Following a look at the BT's for
Harlech, I found the following entry.
Bap. William Griffith, son of John Williams Blacksmith and Margaret Jones
his wife - llanfair 4/8/1810.
It seems too much of a coincidence that this isn't my William Jones but I
can't quite fathom out the William Griffith bit. Also, under marriages there
was an entry which again was confusing:
Mar. John William widower and Margaret Jones, spinster were married by Banns
6/8/1810.
I am naturally totally confused.
I was wondering if anyone was visiting the Records Office at Dolgellau if
they would be prepared to get me a copy of the Parish record entries for the
above to see if there were any other details recorded. From experience, I
know that sometimes, BT's weren't always recorded correctly. I would
naturally pay the cost of any expenses plus the cost of copies.

Geraint
I'm re-posting this message in the hope that someone may be able to help me now.
I wonder if anyone has access to Llanaber Bishop's transcripts re early Edwards family information.
I have managed to find quite a bit of information about the family via censuses once they moved to Llandderfel, but most of the rest comes from on line transcriptions of Llanelltyd Bishop's Transcripts, where all the children appear to have been born, at Caemabseifion.
Rees Edwards was born around 1772/1776 in Llanaber and married Anne (born around 1777 also in Llanaber). I should like to find their marriage date and place (I've tried Llanaber BTs), as well as their exact years of birth/baptism and parentage. I'm guessing that their marriage was possibly between 1795 and 1802 when their first child, Richard, (as far as I know) was born. Rees' name is variously spelled as Rhys, Rice or Reese, and the surname was given as Edward or Edwards. I don't know what Anne's maiden name was. Because of the patronymic method of naming, I don't know if it will be easy to identify Rees, Anne and their parents.
Can anyone possibly help me with this? I should be most grateful if you can. If not, perhaps you might be able to point me in a new direction. I've reached one of those proverbial brick walls!
Their children were:
Richard (b 1802) Gwen (b 1804) Catherine (b 1806) - my Great Great Grandmother Morgan (b 1807/8?) - can't prove this one Mary (b 1813)
Elizabeth (b 1815) Rhys/Reese (b 1817) Jane (b1820) Edward (born 1821)
I don't know if they had any more children, but by 1824 there was another family (Davies) living at Cae Mab Seifion (Llanelltyd), which is when I presume the Edwards family had moved to Llandderfel as they show up at Llanerch farm on the 1841 census.
Perhaps someone has suggestions for areas I haven't already tried. I'd be grateful for any help!
With many thanks
Janet
