I am researching my ggg grandfather, Richard DAVIES or DAVID and his wife, Anne. I have found Richard and his wife, Anne, in the 1841 census via ancestry.com (I am not a member of ancestry.com):
1841 Wales Census
County and Parish of Llangelynnin
Township of Bodgadfan
Tyn y cae (this is the name of Richard Davies' farm)
Richard Davies, 55 years old, farmer, born in this county
Ann Davies, 60 years old, born in this county
And I have found Richard DAVIES and his son, Lewis DAVIES, in the 1851 census via ancestry.com:
1851 Wales Census taken March 30, 1851
Name of street, place or road, and name or number of home: 45 (45th home of 47), Ty'n y cae (that is the name of the farm where they lived) in the village of Celynnin, Township of Bodgadfan, Parish of Llangelynnin, Merionethshire, Wales
Richart Davies, head
Condition: wdr
Age: 67
Occupation: Farmer 11 acres
Born: Celynnin, Merionethshire
Lewis Davies, son
Condition: married
Age: 37
Occupation: mariner
Born: Celynnin, Merionethshire
Cathreine Jones
Condition: Unmarried
Age: 26
I have also been given the following information from the burials of Llangelynnin via the Dolgellau office:
8 April 1847, Anne Davies, Tynycae, aged 68
I am sure this record is for the wife of my ggg grandfather, Richard DAVIES, because the name of the farm is the same as in the censuses and her age works out right. Also, it seems certain that my ggg grandmother died before the 1851 census was taken because she is not listed in it. The same is true of Richard DAVIES with regard to the 1861 census; he must have died between the two censuses.
I have also acquired the following information via the Dolgellau office:
Anne dau of Lewis Phillips and Margaret Jones his wife, bapt. The 16th of May 1783
Richard son of David Evan of Craig y fadan by Ann his wife bapt. 14th October 1790
The researcher was not sure this information refers to my ggg grandparents and therefore I can't be sure.
I was also given the following burial information via the Dolgellau office that I am not sure applies to my ggg grandfather, Richard DAVIES:
5 March 1858, Richard DAVIES, Prysgae, aged 74
His age works out perfectly (figuring from the 1851 census, he was born in 1784), but I don't know why he would have been living at Prysgae when he died.
I have acquired another burial record via the Dolgellau office that may be that of Richard's mother-in-law, that is, the mother of Ann daughter of Lewis Phillips mentioned above:
21 June 1847, Elizabeth Lewis, Prysgae, aged 95
What I would like to do first is to be sure that these two marriage records and two burial records of which I am not sure apply to my ggg grandparents and one gggg grandparent. I would appreciate any help you can give.
Thank you very much.

Hello Jayne
You could try writing to the Registrar with all the relevant information.
They won't issue a certificate unless the facts match.

Hello Margaret. Richard here again.
If you're interested in tracing births, marriages and deaths in the parish
of Llanfachreth during the late 18th/early 19th centuries you may wish to view
the following website:-

Hello Margaret.
I also have PUGH/E ancestors who lived in and around the village of
Llanfachreth in the 18/19th century, but I'm uncertain whether there's any connection.
Will have a closer look over the next few days and get back to you.
Gelli is a farm roughly a 1.25km SSE of the village centre. If you visit
_http://www.old-maps.co.uk/_ (http://www.old-maps.co.uk/) and type in the
address Gelli one of the results thrown up will be Gelli, Llanfachreth.
Many of my PUGH/E ancestors are buried at Llanfachreth parish church

Richard

he lived in Liverpool and married Eleanor Richards about 1829. He worked as

Hi all
I am new to this list. Today I received my grandmother's birth certificate, which shows her place of birth to be Gelli, Llanfachreth in 1879.
Her mother was Mary Harvey, nee Pugh, and her father was John Harvey, a pointsman in a railway station. The informant was Margaret Pugh of the same address.
I would like to know whether Gelli, Llanfachreth is a precise location, or whether there could be any other places with the same name, as I have read it is the name for a farm.
I am interested as it would help me track down the rest of the family on the censuses. I have found a Margaret Pughe in Gelli on the 1881, with her husband Meredith and her son William, Mary's brother I hope.
In 1871 the same family were at the same address, with a Mary Pugh, whom I am hoping is my great grandmother. In 1891 Margaret was a widow living with her son William and I have found a reference on a rootsweb message board to memorial inscriptions in Llanfachreth Church for Meredith, 1884 aged 68, and Margaret 1891 aged 74. Also their son William 1915 aged 71.
Can anyone confirm that I am on the right track, or does anyone know anything about Gelli today or in the past. I would appreciate any replies
Thanks from Margaret in Gosport Hampshire
