I think this question got buried in my earlier question regarding the 1901
census.
Can someone answer this question please?
I have the microfiche for marriages for Meirionnydd. Is this the same
marriage index as in the Dafydd Hayes list?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Kay
The name of the dwelling, I think, is Garreg No.2
The parish in Caernarvonshire is Llanaelhaiarn
It's "Road Lab(ourer)" that's written over his occupation
As for Griffith, it might be "boot m(anufacturer)"

Hello Kay
Owen's place of birth is LLANAELHAIARN. It's Road Lab. The last word is
tricky isn't it? I think it's meant to be Bootmaker, but the word isn't
complete.
Kind regards
Maggi
Thanks for your help and also Maggi. It seems to make perfect sense now!

Hello Eleri
Have you tried looking through the GRO index and getting their death
certificates? If you had a date of death you might be able to find an obituary for
them which could say where they are buried.

Could someone on the list help me interpret this 1901 census finding,
please?
Llanfrothen, Dwelling - Ganeg No. 2 (sp?)
Owen WILLIAMS, 74, working on the main road, born - Llanathaian (sp?),
Caernarvon
Catherine WILLIAMS, 58, born - Dyffryn
Griffith GRIFFITHS, 28, shoemaker foreman, born - Dyffryn
Questions:
1) What is the name of the town Owen Williams was born? The closest I
could come to it on the GENUKI list of parishes was: Llanaelhaiarn. Do you
think this is correct?
2) Also, written in over the "working on the main road" it looks like

Does this make sense to anyone?

Dear Eleri,
If memory serves me correctly the cemetery separated from the main
churchyard and closer to the Marian was for the town as a whole before
burials were moved to the 'new' location where you looked. The cemetery
I am thinking about has a distinctive pyramid shaped memorial to the
bard Dafydd Ionawr.
Another possibility is a very old cemetery behind Salem chapel on Cader
Road.

Dear listers
Wondered if anyone has Memorial Inscriptions for the Dolgellau area.
I'm trying to find my great grandparents' grave. Their names are OWEN & MARY PUGH. They lived on Tanygader farm on the outskirts of Dolgellau. They died around 1926 and 193? They were chapel people so would not have been buried in the churchyard.
I have found my father's cousins who have the same names buried in the town churchyard near Ysgol y Gader but they died nearer 1960-80. But I cannot find my great grandparents.
Thank you

I
Sorry Kay.
My reply was to Leslie. I had first sent an email directly to her and referred to my Catherine Evans as Catherine Williams. Then I made another mistake by replying through Rootsweb to correct that, so you got that reply and I cause more confusion.
I also have an Evan Evans (b:1896) in Llanenddwyn. He was the father, and his wife Mary? was the mother of my Catherine Evans (b:1817). He later married a Catherine Williams. So I got confused on the names.
I hope that clears that up.

Sorry to be so dense but I can't figure this one out!

Whoops! This gets confusing, eh?
William's first wife was Catherine Evans (1815), daughter of Evan Evans
and Mary ?.
She apparently had a sister, Elizabeth Evans, and a brother, John Evans.
According to the 1841 census, Evan Evans later remarried to Catherine
Williams (nee Williams). She had already had a daughter, Catherine Williams,
by her first marriage.

Just putting it back out "there."
Searching for any cousins in the Jones family in/near Bala in the 1700's. My
ancestor David Jones was born at "Maesyfallen" near Bala to a Jones that was
a minister. I think he was Episcopalian. Not sure. Anyway David's father
remarried and David did not like her. So he ran away with family. Not sure if
it was Jones or his mothers family. I do not know David's mothers maiden
name. So he ran away and joined a ship of Quakers in 1731. I would love to find
any of this family and share the history of David and his children. Any help
greatly appreciated.

the NLW and it does state that Ellin was 24 years and upward. That would put
her being born about 1741.
I did find the following from the MIs of Llanfawr, which you may already

Do you know what estate Nangau was part of? I'd like to trace the leasing of
it to see the names back and down the years. I have access to the BTs of
Llanfor, is there something specific you'd like me to look up?
It sure would be nice to actually work with someone on the same line, so I
