Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

many of those connections.
One of the hardest bits for those getting started and for us old hands who
are trying to fill in the gaps, is what happened between the latest
available census (1901) and living memory. I suspect that almost every list
member has some details that fill that gap!
Christmas is a time for sharing! So I want every list member to share the
details of Birth, Marriage and Death certificates that they have, for their
deceased Merioneth family members that are dated between 1901 and 1926.
If we all respond to this request we will create a very valuable resource in
the list archives.
All the best

Hello Jenny
Yes, it comes under Dolgellau registration. If you go on the North Wales
BMD site you can print a form out to send to the Registrar.

I sent this request in awhile back and never received an answer. Would someone be so kind as to let me know the answer of the question I asked.
Thanks you,
Jenny
The above couple married in St. Johns Church at Barmouth, Merioneth in 1906. In the free BDM they are listed as being married in the District of Dolgelly.
Would St. Johns Church of Barmouth be in the district of Dolgelly.
Thanks, Jenny
Hello
I have just recieved a death cert for a little girl who died at the above address in 1932.
This was not her home address (which was in Tan-y-Grisiau). Before her death she had not been well for some time (her death looks like it was from Rheumatic Fever or the after effects of) - does anyone know if Geufron Tce was a hospital or nursing home?
Thanks

Hello List,
Does anyone know anything about Gwernefel, Llanycil and its map location? It is mentioned in the Llanycil Parish Registers (Baptisms) 1685 - 1706 but not after that period. I would be grateful for any information .
Elfed Owen.

Holiday greetings to subscribers of the Merionethshire list,
I posted information about my ancestor some time ago and think it is time to
post it again since we may have some new subscribers. Please see the lineage
below. I would like to correspond with anyone who may have information on my
family before or after my ancestor Lewis Pugh immigrated to Virginia in
1695.
Since patronymic naming (I hope I am using the term correctly) was used in
Wales well into the nineteenth century, I am wondering why I don't hear more
about DNA testing on this list. It seems to me that this kind of testing
would help tie families with different Welsh surnames to a common ancestor.
If the DNA results were a perfect or near match, it could be very helpful.
For example, my most distant ancestor was David Pugh, born about 1650. He
had three sons and at least one daughter. I would be interested in knowing
if there are people still living in Merionethshire who may be from the same
line. They may have different last names or variations of the name Pugh but
would lead back to the same ancestor. Of course, I am hoping that someone
with the same or a different surname might have the family history going
back farther than I do. Am I dreaming?
Has anyone on this list been tested? Could we start a discussion about DNA
testing? I am the project coordinator of the Pugh surname DNA group. Our
website is www.familytreedna.com/public/Pugh. I would be happy to answer any
questions you might have by DNA testing and its use in genealogy.
My Pugh lineage:
1. David Pugh born about 1650
2. Lewis Pugh born abt. 1679 in Merionethshire, Wales
3. Henry Pugh born 1711 in Richmond County, Virginia
4. Samuel Pugh born abt 1740 in Richmond County, Virginia
5. David Pugh born 1761 in Richmond County, Virginia
7. Robert Pugh born in Grayson Count, Virginia
8. Robert Pugh, Jr. born in Grayson County, Virginia
9. George Franklin Pugh born in DeKalb County,
Missouri
10. Gerald Dean Pugh born in Davies County,
Missouri
11. Daniela Patricia Pugh born in
California
Sincerely,
Daniela Moneta

Richard,
I was going through some old notes and saw that you had asked about 1941 info.
1841 census Llanfachreth
David Pugh 35 farmer
Jane 30
Jane 8, Mary 6, Elinor 4
I see that daughter Jane would be 18 on the 1851 census so I checked again to see if I got it wrong. It is clearly written as 28 but sometimes the census taker made mistakes also.
Hope this helps.
Margaret
Hello Dave,
I don't have any information on this line but I am forwarding your message
to Jeff Pugh who has just started a mailing list called Tracing Pugh Origins
on Yahoo groups. He has quite a bit of information on Welsh Pughs who went
to Pennsylvania. I hope he can help you. Do you know of any male descendants
of this Pugh line who would be interested in joining our DNA project?
Sincerely,
Daniela
