Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Looking for any information regarding Catherine Griffith (Catherine verch
Griffith) b. abt 1660 Llaithgyn, Llanfor Parish. She married Cadawalader
Maurice (Morris) or (Maurice ap Cadawalader) in 1685 in Llanfor Parish. She
next married Alexander Edwards, whose wife Margaret died shortly after
arriving on "The Vine" to America in 1684, about 1710. She married a 3rd
time abt 1713 to John Williams. Catherine and Cadawalader Morris were the
parents of Cadawalder and Elizabeth Morgan Morris. Elizabeth was the sister
to Sarah Morgan who married Squire Boone and were the parents of the famous
Daniel Boone.
I would like anything on Catherine and/or Cadawalader. When and where did
Cadawalader die??
Thanks
Connie
Another message which the PRO has asked list administrators to circulate, in
order to excuse their abysmal performance over the 1901 Census on-line launch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are aware that some people have encountered difficulties when using
credit cards on the 1901 Census website. We wish to offer the following
reassurance on our mechanism for debiting credit cards.
No charge is applied by us unless and until a service has completed
successfully. If you have entered your card details and you have not then
been able to use any chargeable services, you will not be charged. If you
have successfully used chargeable services then the accumulated charge will
be shown on your screen.
When your session is closed the total charge is then sent to your card
provider for settlement. A session is normally closed after 48 hours but,
due to the high demand levels, we have extended this temporarily to 96 hours
so no sessions have been closed at this time.
Some users have contacted their credit card providers and been told that
charges have already been earmarked against their accounts. These represent
amounts which have been authorised but not yet charged. If you have entered
your card details for authorisation more than once, it is possible that you
might have several "earmarked" amounts. These may remain on your account
for several days but, if no matching settlement charge is received, then
they are removed. Your card provider will be able to give you further
assurance on this.
For enquiries about specific credit card sessions, contact the Census
Helpdesk on +44 (0)1684 585298/9 or by e-mail at
support(a)censushelpdesk.co.uk.
The PRO has asked list administrators to pass the following statement on to
their lists:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are very aware of the great disappointment that a lot of people have
experienced in not being able to access the 1901 Census site or who have
gained access to the site and then experienced difficulties in using it.
We very much regret that this has occurred. There have been very high
levels of demand peaking at 1.2 million hits at one time. QinetiQ, who
are responsible for the site, are working with their contractors to
resolve this as soon as possible. We will publish regular updates.
Please remember that if you would prefer, there are microfiche copies
available at Kew and at local record offices throughout England and Wales.
Contact & feedback may be made via the address 1901census(a)pro.gov.uk
