Dear Jan,
I have some Parrys (earlier than yours), originally from Caernarvonshire
and then Llanpatrick, Anglesey, Wales. I don't think our families are
connected, however. I don't know where St. Peglig Church is located.
Hi Jan and Betty,
St. Pebligs Church is situated in Caernarvon. Google quote:
The main churches are St Mary's and St Peblig's. St Mary's, in Church Lane,
was built onto the Town Walls in the 14th century and later became a garrison
church. St Peblig's also has 14th century origins and was built on the site
of a Roman burial ground.
The parish is/was Llanbeblig.
Caernarvonshire Archives hold the following parish registers:
XPE25 Llanbeblig 1699-1887 1699-1898 1699-1975
Your best way forwards is to firstly search the 1881 online census for Owen
Parry and Gwen Roberts aged 56 and 55 repectively at 1881. As you can
reasonably assume that Gwen would have been married in her home church of St.
Peblig`s then look for a birthplace there. But whatever, you have the parish
records to go at!
Some kind soul may be able to look it up for you.
Hope it helps,
Keith Roberts.
