Thanks, Aled,
I have tried to find JOHN PARRY in the on-line Griffith's Pedigrees
(WILLPERF database on
rootsweb.com) and the only one I can come up with
is the one who married ANNE THOMAS, and only the one surviving child
(Mary. who m. Wm. Edward Morgan in Amlwch) is shown. I have been
puzzling over the fact that the Parrys had so few children and so
strangely spaced. I have found the names of other children who didn't
survive early childhood (tombstone B0018 St. Eleth). I never suspected
that John and Anne Parry might have other children. How might I find
this in Griffiths?
The on-line St. Eleth's baptismal registers don't go back far enough
(earliest is 1813 I think). I know there were other Parrys in the
vicinity of Llanpatrick, but I have never been able to find the
connection to my John Parry. His little dead sons were:
John Parry (1760-1764)
Hugh Parry (1763-1764)
William (1775-1776)
Since Mary Parry was born about 1771, there are 8 years between the birth
of the last deceased child (Hugh, 1763) and Mary. It seems reasonable
that there had to be more children.
Is the husband of Elizabeth Parry supposed to be a Rowland or a Morgan?
I know about patrionomics, but I don't know when it shifted with this
family. I will try to look him up on the WILLPERF database but there
are a lot of Parrys in it.
Mary Parry married a Wm. Edward Morgan who is believed to have come from
Llanfechell, which is not far from Llanpatrick, I believe.
B018
Children of John Parry, Tregynrhig Fawr, by Anne, his wife. Three sons,
all died in childhood (1764 to 1776). John Parry d. 23 April 1764, age 4
mos.; Hugh Parry d. 6 April 1764, age 1 year; and William Parry d.19 Jan.
1776, age 6 mos. There is also several Jones children here--John Jones,
d. 10 July 1791 age 5 years and John Jones d. 31 Mar. 1786, age 2yr, 6
mos. Their parents were William and Jane Jones; a William Jones (wife
Jane) is also buried there--he died 11 Oct. 1788, age 53 (born 1735).
Also WILLIAM PARRY, formerly of Tregynrhig, and for many years Master of
the Liverpool and Dublin Sailing Packets, who died July 31st____(stone
embedded in cement). [Who is William Parry?] All of these had lived at
Tre-Gynrhig, which was the estate of John Parry and his wife Anne Thomas.
Odd that John and Anne Thomas Parry were buried separately.
I don't think this William Parry, Master of the Liverpool and Dublin
Sailing Packets, was the father of my John Parry because naming patterns
would have placed his name higher in the birth order. I actually don't
know the mrriage date of John Parry and Anne Thomas, and I don't know
when they left Caernaravonshire to go to Anglesey. From the death of the
children, it would probably have to be as early as 1764, since the stone
is in St. Eleth's.
By the way, Llys Dulas keeps popping up in my research on my lines, but I
can't trace a straight course. I know there was a (Edward?) Hughes there
at one time but don't think he was our line of Hughes. He apparently had
something to do with the Parys Mountain mine.
Thanks so much for the information. I would apprecite any advice you
might have.
Betty

Subject: [GWYNEDD] ROOSE'S CONNECTIONS
HI ALL
In light of the recent Roose connections i'd like to
submit my interest in this well known Anglesey family;
In my indirect family line I have a Matthew THOMPSON
bc abt 1760. The only other Thompson in this period is
the wife of Jonathon Roose, that is Elizabeth
THOMPSON,a generation before that of Matthews, whom
were married in LLANENGAN Caernarfonshire(I have dates
if any one wants them), both believed to have come
from Birchover in Derbyshire if my memory serves me
well,(sorry, i'm under the influence of a very strong
lager, oh , and vodka, at this present moment in
time!).Anyway, Matthew married Elin ROWLANDS of PLAS
UCHAF LLanwenllwyfo in 1784, whose fathEr was ROWLAND
MORGAN,tenant of LLYS DULAS, and from whom have
descended most of the ROWLANDS'S in the Amlwch area.
According to the JE GRIFFITHS pedigrees a son of
Rowland married a daughter(Elizabeth, again, I think!)
of John Parry of Tregynryg in the parish of
LLanbadrig(for betty). Could this Matthew be a
relation to Elizabeth? ; George Roose was a witness to
his wedding,so there is a strong possibility, and
again, most of the Thompsons in the Amlwch area have
descended from this individual.
Sorry to go on, but any info on this connection
gratefuly recieved.
