You might try looking for Rowlands in the cemetery lists and trade
directories and census reports in Amlwch and surrounding areas. Go to:
www.amlwchdata.co.uk. A very useful site.
If you go by naming patterns, chances are that his father was John
Rowlands, if John is the first born son.
You also might try to find his immigration papers, which might give
additional information. I don't know where to tell you to find those
from Canada, but I would bet the family came into the U.S. first.
Do you know they came from Anglesey or from Wales?

Cathie Locke,
Thomas was born before B, M & D indexing started in 1837- so he will not
be
registered. Transcribed on-line searchable parish records are incomplete
so
it is unlikely to find him amongst those. He may be listed in the
original
parish records though but you don't know which parish. If you have any
other dates for events whilst he was in Anglesey or in UK before he
emigrated he could be found. When did he emigrate? Did he marry in
Canada
or UK? He and his family should be noted in censuses if they were in
Wales
or England at those times.
This is only some advice and I don't think it is possible for anyone to
do a
search based on the information you have been given - unless you are very
lucky.
Regards,
John
