hello all,
i am looking for a william roscoe, who was my GG grandfather, all i know of
him was he was born in runcorn 1846, he married Ellen Jones of LLanllechid
Caernarvon she was born in 1849, i have had some information that her
mothers name was margaret stoker, i have looked in the LDS for any records
of william roscoe but there seems to be no birth cert or marriage cert or
death cert, i have a photo copy of his sons marriage cert and on that it
states that william roscoe was a master mariner, i do not know if he had a
deep sea licence or not, i woould like to find william roscoe's mother and
father any help would be of great help, i am not clued up on how or where
to go to find these things other than asking at the records office but
people tell me that there are all sorts of ways to find information out i
guess its easy when you know what to look for where to look for it and where
to go from there when you have found it. any help as i said would be a huge
amount more than i have got so far, also where do i look for graves, if they
were chaple people which i beleive they were ??? i have looked at local
chaples and they dont seem to have any grave yards .....what on earth did
they do with the body's before crematoriums??....they had to put them
somewhere......didnt they? William and Ellen had 4 children according to the
1881 census
William Roscoe born 1869
winnifred Roscoe born 1871
Evan Roscoe born 1873
John Roscoe born 1879
WILLIAM ROSCOE BORN 1869 BEING MY GREAT GRANDFATHER, HIS SON WAS EDWIN
ROSCOE BORN IN ABERGELE.
if anyone out there knows of william and ellen Roscoe or her mother margaret
stoker, or any of their children i would be over the moon to hear from you.
Kind regards
Einir Roscoe

Dear Geraint
>...there is no excuse for rudeness.<
I find that if you are rude to people they are often rude back, so a polite
approach should lead to a polite answer.
I agree that it is very inconvenient when an office of a registrar is not
open just when you want it.
I had the same problem with one in Bangor some years ago. When they
managed
to send me a reply it was full of the most useful and interesting
information. It would seem that as Registrars can only be employed or
afforded for two hours a day or week, it is essential that they have other
jobs. Like us they all have bills to pay,
So let us give them the benefit of the doubt about tardy replies.

Judy in Derbyshire
