Hi,
Firstly, apologies for the size of this posting. I am hoping that somebody can connect to
this family, or can remember them living in Blaenau. The details I have are as follows:
Francis HUGHES, born 6 February 1863, Beddgelert. Died 27 January 1942, Blaenau
Ffestiniog. Married 1890 to:
Winifred Jones, born c. 1872, Morfa Bychan. Died 25 May 1950, Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Children (all born Blaenau Ffestiniog):
1) William Griffith: born 1890. Died 24 October 1913, Universal Pit Disaster, Senghenydd.
2) Hugh: born 1891. Died 24 October 1913, Universal Pit Disaster, Senghenydd.
3) Margaret: born 1892.
4) Humphrey: born 1894. Died 24 October 1913, Universal Pit Disaster, Senghenydd.
5) Francis (Frank): born 1895. Died 30 April 1918, France.
6) Elizabeth: born 1898.
7) Thomas John: born 1900.
8) Llewelyn (Llew).
9) Robert (Bob).
10) Jennie: Died 20 March 1975. Unmarried.
11) Annie: Unmarried in 1950.
12) & 13) Two daughter, names unknown.
1) to 7) all appeared on the 1901 Census. The others were born after this date, but I am
not too sure in which order.
By May 1950 Thomas John had died. The six girls and Llew and Bob were still alive. Four of
the girls were married. I don't know who was who, but in their mother's obituary
in the Herald Cymraeg, their married names only were given:
Mrs. Ernest Jones. (Ernest died 20 July 1969, aged 71. Lived at Y Laundry, Maentwrog.
Buried 23 July, Maentwrog Cemetery).
Mrs. Tom Parry.
Mrs. Garlick.
Mrs. Colerole: Unusual name. I've checked the 1881 & 1901 Censuses, as well as
FreeBMD, and ran a Google search, but the name Colerole does not exist. Possibly it should
have been Collerall/Callerall.
If anybody can connect to, or knows anything about the family I would love to hear from
you.
Many thanks,
Keith Morris.
