Subject: [POWYS] Tallis's Topographical Dictionary - update
(cross-posting)
Dear Listers,
After intensive activity in the past few weeks, at long last I've
finished transcribing the mammoth 'L' section of the alphabetical
gazetteer in Tallis's Topographical Dictionary of England and Wales. I
have now uploaded the 'L' section onto my "Tallis" website feature.
This
section contains nearly 500 entries, supplemented by over 100 detailed
descriptions. It includes several hundred place-names beginning with
'LL'.
I am now working on the final two volumes of the six-volume publication,
and will upload the remaining sections of the gazetteer in stages as
each part of the transcription is completed. I hope to have finished the
entire transcription by the end of March.
You can access my transcript of Tallis's Topographical Dictionary at
http://home.clara.net/wfha/wales/tallis/
Please note that because of its size, the new 'L' section will take some
time to download if you are using a dial-up connection to the Internet.
Note that if you are subscribed to more than one Welsh mailing list you
may receive multiple postings of this message.
Kind regards,
John
