David,
Some of this I have - the 1668 will; the will of 1726 is on order from the
NLW; I have something from the Caernarfon Archives about the tithe
schedule - a map of the land; and I have the 1851 Census; and the burial
dates and place of burial at Pentir had been found. I must tell you, it has
all been through this list. A kind gentleman found the gravestones at
Pentir and photographed them and emailed to me.
I did not know the farm was sold in 1853 to the Penrhyn Estate - that is a
big one! In the past week I did find a marriage settlement (which is in the
mail to me) of the daughter - Anne, as follows:
> I would only require the papers to do with my grgrAunt - Anne
Williams:
> *Marriage settlement of John Roberts of Glanrafon, parish of Llanedwen
> and Anne Williams of Maesgeirchan, parish of Bangor, 11 May 1866.
Anne was sister of my grgrGrandfather - Francis Williams b. c 1819 at Maes y
Gerchan. In their generation, there was no child (that I've found) that was
named - John Williams. I have found no will of their father - John
Williams who sold the land to the Penrhyn Estate.
David, can you tell me if the papers regarding the sale of the estate are at
the archives in Caernarfon?
Thank you so much for your time and help.
Bonnie (Williams) Henderson

Bonnie,
You probably already have these references, but just in case:
1668 Maes y Keirchie Will of John Williams
1726? Maes y Gerchan " " John Williams
1840 Maes y Gerchen Tithe Schedule - John Williams, owner & occupier
1851 Census - Maes y Gerchan John Williams, Hd, 60, farmer, b.Bangor
Margaret Williams, Wife, 60, b.Bangor
Daughters: Anne,28; Mary,21?; Ellin, 24.
1853 Maes y Geirchen farm sold to the Penrhyn Estate, who owned most of
the
neighbouring land.
1860 20 April, death of Margaret, wife of John Williams of Maes y Gerchan,
aged 69
1864 19 Nov., death of the above John Williams, aged 74. ( MI at Pentir
churchyard - Pentir was in Bangor parish until 1888).
1868 07 March, death of Emma, wife of John Williams, Maes y Gerchan, aged
54
(MI at Pentir).
1930s Penrhyn Estate sold the farm to Bangor City Council who used the
land
for a large social housing development. Nothing survives of the old
buildings.
Best wishes, David.
