Subject: [ENG-LIV] England and Wales BDM 1837 to 2001 soon on line
Updated news from
Family Research Link
for the GRO going online
http://www.1837online.com/
The Family Reserch Link has supposedly held discussions and negotiations
with the GRO and there will be greater access to index information less
than 100 years old, this message originally said (I paraphrased). It
said that the changes will take effect from 1 April 2003 and the site
will be opened to the indexes from 1837 to 2001.
It is my impression that this will be a paid service, but I am not
totally certain of that. I also have been told, "The GROs ruling also
means that FreeBMD will now start transcribing records that are less than
100 years old."
I don't know anything more about this, but thought I would pass on the
information.
