This is such good information for everyone who has family history around
the town of Bangor, Bill. Therefore I keep replying to the list.
The one other glitch in this for me was that when I got the CAE record
office to search for MI's for my ancestors in the Pentir churchyard - none
were found! It was someone on this list that saw my dilemma and said that
they had the MI's for Pentir, checked their records, found them, forwarded
them to me, and furthermore translated them from Welsh. Thank you, Twm
Moore, if you see this! And went to the churchyard and photographed the
headstones for me.
We speculated whether the record office had missed seeing them in the parish
MI's or whether they had only looked at the chapel MI's? I should have
followed up with the record office on this and one day I will when I have
dealings with them again. This is why it is advised to actually check the
records yourself if you have an opportunity, things get missed or
misconstrued etc.
Thank you, all good listers for your help. These lists are the best.

Bonnie,
Yes, the graveyard filled up at the cathedral, and as it was in the middle
of
Bangor there was no opportunity of extending it - so they used
Pentir
graveyard instead because Pentir was in the parish.
Burials ceased in the Cathedral Churchyard in 1855 when it became full.
Until the public cemetery was opened at Glanadda in 1862, burials took
place
at Pentir.
I am indebted to David Price of Bangor for this information.
The Bangor Cathedral MIs are at UCW
The Pentir MIs have been published by GFHS
And we are hoping GFHS will publish the Glanadda MIs - but that is a large
task!

Bill
