Thanks Martin
Hi anyone if your looking for WW2 history in North Wales you should also
take a look at the Rhydymwyn Valley History Society web page at
www.rhydymwynvalleyhistory.co.uk The Valley Works at Rhydymwyn is now a
Nature Reserve that has a fascinating history as it was one of the most, if
not the most secret site in the UK during the second World War. It produced
and soared (mostly underground) our supply of Mustard Gas.
It was also where the early experiments on the Atomic Bomb (Tube Alloys
Project) were carried out until the Quebec Agreement was signed by Churchill
and Roosevelt on 19 August 1943. Which committed the future development of
an atomic bomb to take place in North America (the Manhattan Project) which
would be out of the range of German bombs.
Regards
Ray

Subject: [GWYNEDD] Gwynedd Roots: The Impact of WWI
I was reading the article "The Impact of WWI" in Gwynedd
Roots earlier. It
mentions the Munitionettes working at the explosives factory at
Penrhyndeudraeth.
