I'd be interested to learn about the workers on the list at Dinorwic Quarry as my
Thomas relatives worked there for many years. Richard Thomas, with his sons, Robert
Henry, and William, and Richard's brother Thomas Edward and possibly others as well.
I'll be looking forward to any info. you can uncover. They were also Calvanistic
Methodists, so perhaps they attended the chapel there as well. -- Katie in U.S.A.

My great grandfather, John Williams, was the Calvinist Methodist Minister at
Dinorwig 1894-1895. They lived in the house Bron Myfyr which is next to the
Chapel and is where my grandmother was born. Strange to think that some of
the folk on your list may have attended that Chapel when John Williams was
the Minister, possibly even your Taid's father!

I am going through old newspapers on the BNA, doing searches on my family
names.
Y Genedl Cymreig - Wednesday 28 December 1892 has something about Dinorwic
Quarry that has a list of names with ages in 1886 and number of years
working at Dinorwic - I am having to translate word by word using an online
translator!
Could be of use to anyone with family working there around then. I am
fairly sure I have identified my Taid's father and know he had worked there
for 13 years in 1886.

Do any of your older members (like me!) remember soldiers arriving by train direct from
Dunkirk in 1940? A group parade in Friars ?Road and six were sent to be billeted in our
house (2 Friars Terrace, High Street) ?At that time, when I lived there, it had some
thirty rooms. On my mothers orders the soldiers were sent to the bathroom, and I still
remember the men empty their rifles in the garden, of great excitement for a ten year old
boy. The troops were there for a month or so, before leaving to reform elsewhere This was
before the arrival of the BBC personnel who were also billeted at my home.
I have for some time read through the various war diaries at KewAchieves, but failed so
far to trace a possible regiment or army corp.?
Can any one help in tracing this event or identifying the regiment.
