Would some kind soul be good enough to try and assist me in a couple of
searches I have in the aboev areas. I am presently unable to get anywhere near
Caernarfon R.O due to the impending arrival of my first baby. (I must plan future
ones so as not to coincide with new lines of investigation!!!!!!)
1. John Hughes (20) appears on the 1841 census in Tan y Bont, Dwygyfylchi
with his wife, Catherine (35) and their son, John (4months). John is an
ag.labourer. I have obtained baptism entries for their son John, in Dwygyfylchi on
8/2/1841. In addition a second son, Robert was baptised on 4/7/1842 also in
Dwygyyfylchi. However, reference to the burial regfister shows catherine was also
buried on the same day.
John went on to re-marry a widow, Margeret Owen of Llys y Gwynt,
Dwygyfylchi. Unfortuantely I haven't been able to trace a marriage for John to
Margeret
thus far. John was originally of Llanbedt y Cenin and Margeret of Gyffin. I do
know they would have been married between 1842 and 1845, and probably in
either Dwygyfylchi or Gyffin.
Would anyone with access to the marrige registers for Dwygyfylchi in the
periods 1836-1845 mind having a look to see if they can find any entries which
would possibly tie in for either marriage. I am about to request what i belive to
the birth cert. for John Hughes (1841) in an attempt to establish Catherines
maiden name which I can they use to verify any replies I get to this request.
2. Rowland Roberts, originally or Caerhun or Dwygyfylchi, appears on the
1851 census at Gwddwglas with his wife Ann and their family. By the 1861 census
it appears ann has died and Rowland has re-married to a woman named Mary who
advises her place of birth as Dwygyfylchi. (unfortunatley I cant make out the
exact address) In 1851 Rowland was 42, 51 at time of 1861 census. Could
someone with access to Marriage registers for Dwygyfylchi for the period 1851-1861
have look and see if they can find a corresponding entry for me. Rowland would
recorded as either a gentlermans servant, gardener or labourer.
and lastly,
3. Robert Thomas married Catherine Roberts in Aber parish on May 15th
1840. He was a widower of full age, a joiner, the son of Thomas Williams, also a
joiner. I strongly suspect that this is my first encounter with Patrynomics!
From further census returns I have established that Robert would have
born
approx 1793 in Llanllechid. I do know that prior to his marrige to Catherine
he
was married to an as yet unknown woman but i do know that he had at least 2
children by this woman. they were Robert and Elizabeth and both appear with him
and his second wife on the 1841 census as being aged 15 and 12 respectively.
Robert (jnr) appears on 1861 census and advises his place of birth as
Dwygyfylchi and is aged 37.
Robert (seemingly a very virile man) had married a third time by the time of
the 1861 census. He is recorded agin in Dwygyfylchi married to a Margeret,
aged 55 originally of Llansantffraidd, Denbighshire. Any clues on date of
marriage and death of his second wife, catherine gratefully recieved.
I would be very grateful if anyone with access to the baptism registers for
Llnallechid could confirm Robert Thomas to be the son of Thomas Williams and
also advise of mothers name and dates etc. Any information on sibilings would
also be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone can supply information relating to Robert's first marriage I
would again be very interested.
I know this is a heck of a request but it is in all honestly bugging me not
knowing or being able to find out at present so any help would be really,
really appreciated.
thanks in anticiaption
Glyn
