Geraint,
I'm not aware of any directories specifically for blacksmiths. I'm trying to find
out more about one of my ancestors who was a cooper, and found a lot of info in the trades
directories Slaters, Whites and Pigotts. If you go to:
http://www.historicaldirectories.org/
You'll be able to search through them. Its a site run by Leicester University and has
recently been revamped. It is now quite easy to navigate.
The pages are copies of original images, so they do take a while to load. You'd have
to look at the north Wales directories, and I'm not sure if they go that far back.
Having said that though, I have got loads of information about my ancestors from the
directories.
Good luck,
Dewi

I am trying to find details of a John Williams who was a Blacksmith around 1815 in Lleyn I
think.
Does anyone know if there are any reference books or similar for Blacksmiths??
regards
Geraint
