Hi,
Gwynedd is on eof the old Welsh Kingdoms, now a county in north west Wales. It used to
contain Anglesey, but various government reforms have changed the boundaries, so what was
once the county of Gwynedd includes the new county of Gwynedd, Anglesey, Conwy and part of
the new Denbighshire (I'M sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong).
The "old" Gwynedd replaced Caernarfonshire.
Gwynedd is a Welsh name, the Welsh name for Anglesey being Ynys Mon.
Your best bet is to subscribe to both as there was a lot of intermingling between the two
counties, so several people who subscribe to one also subscribe to the other as well.
Regards,
Dewi

Checking with a Google search, this name "GWYNEDD" seems to refer to the same
area of Wales as "ANGLESEY" which also has a Rootsweb mailing list.
Are the two places the same area or is one larger? Or is one a Welsh name
for the other?
What is the difference between the two Rootsweb mailing lists?
I'm just a confused American - thanks for any help!
